This wedding is special to me for many reasons which i would like to share with you. Everyone has a story, a history and when two stories and paths come together in the celebration of a wedding with all of their loved ones present it is always special. Georgia and Bill came all the way from the USA to get married in a beautiful location in Greece called Costa Navarino. Costa Navarino is located in the south of Greece, about 4 hours drive from Athens and is set on hills right next to the sea. I am very lucky that i get to shoot destination weddings all over the world and see some amazing locations and meet the nicest people but Greece is home for me. This was my 6 visit to Greece this year and i hope for many more next year. My journey started with flying into Athens to meet my best friend and fellow photographer Yiannis Alefantou. We then left Corinthos at 4am and drove 4 hours to sleep in a small hotel for 2 hours before we started shooting. Nothing made me more happy than shooting with one of my best friends and experiencing this amazing wedding together. No weddings success is down to a photographer. Sure we do so much but without the team effort of assistance and crew and great wedding planners, it so often does not happen as well as it can. Our wedding planner for this wedding was Vana Efkleidou from White Ribbon who done an amazing job organizing the event, all its detail and making sure everyone including our crew were looked after.
Georgia looked amazing as she wore a stunning dress and shoes by Oscar de la Renta and Bill complimented her very well. The couple are a match made. Their love is organic and real and their organic theme with wild lavender everywhere complimented them. I wanted to capture that atmosphere and narrate a story from the events and details i had in front of me. Telling their story without knowing the couple was easy, sometimes we just need to look around. Not every image should be an obvious one. In fact, sometimes an image is more powerful when it is not so obvious. Just like a smell or song triggers an flood of memories to an event and stimulated your memory, the same way we should capture images to have the same reaction. I love to create ‘triggers’, little pockets of memories that are not so obvious in content but have as much value in emotional content. The brain will get lazy if every image is obvious so it is good to challenge the viewer and almost force them to remember but the ‘strange’ or ‘not so obvious’ image, but it is this reaction that has value and these memories they will remember forever. When we are all old and on our way to the next life, do you think we will care about the details, the weather on the day or the options of drinks the guests had? I’m not saying these things are not important, of course they are but what has more importance and value? I would like to be remembered as a man who created memory for someone, a man who presented a story of images that not all of the images are so obvious, but they have the memory and that’s important. The love between the couple was just amazing and combining this with the details, location, family and friends made my job easy to grab moments and present this to you all. I wish Georgoia and Bill so much love and luck for their future and i thank them for allowing me into their lives to making us all feel like family. I thank Yannis Alefantou for allowing me this opportunity to shoot with you again and share this special time together. Yiannis and I just wanted to create a beautiful story, work from our souls and present this story from our hearts. Enjoy.
