At the start of the year I receive and email from a couple asking if I could document their wedding in Greece this year. Naturally, we established a time for a Skype call and touched base for the first time. I instantly connected with Gus and Eli. Gus is an American Greek and Eli is a mix of Mexican and Irish. They told me all about their life and their culture and how important it all is to them. We then spoke about their big plans for a wedding in Greece in and amazing place called Nafplio. The wedding was over 4 days with a pre wedding dinner on a beach at an authentic Greek taverna, a beach party, the wedding day and a post wedding photo shoot. This post will focus on the first event, the pre dinner.
After talking about my philosophy of art, storey telling and the value of art, Eli emails me after the Skype call an amazing email. She starts by telling me how connected her and Gus felt with me and how my vision is exactly what they want. She then tells me about her amazing talented artistic family. Both of her brothers are artists and gifted artists they are. Steve is an amazing illustrator who’s work inspires me greatly. His work can been seen all over in exhibitions but HERE is one of his sites . This was a God send, an artistic family who value vision.
Just before the dinner started, we decided last minute to take a stroll and capture a few natural fun portraits, just how we like it while guests made their way to the Taverna. There were approximately 40 friends and family that joined us all in Greece from the USA and many more who live in Greece. After some fun times getting to know each other taking the portraits, we all made our way back to the taverna to get things rolling.
Everything was perfect. The sea air was blowing into the taverna, the food was flowing, the music was amazing and the guest were laughing, perfect for story telling. The night was full of glasses coaching, wine being served, sea food everywhere and dancing… lots of dancing. It was like a home from home and I couldn’t of asked for a better couple.
This wedding is split over 4 posts, see the other posts Here and Here and Here
